Help for families
During the EHCP meeting, and at any other formal and informal meetings and discussions, staff within school will help parents and carers with anything they request support for, including home-school transport and Disability Living Allowance (DLA).
If parents and carers wish to receive some support in completing forms, the point of contact will initially be the key worker, who will then in turn request support from the teacher or a member of the leadership team. Relevant paperwork will be completed in conjunction with parents and carers.
Often support is requested around behaviour at home, and here at Camberwell Park School we will have discussions with the parents and carers and find ways of moving the inappropriate behaviours forward. This may include the use of social stories, individual reward systems, bespoke lessons and activities around ‘good behaviour; and ongoing communication with the families.Parents are welcome to contact school in relation to any support or advice they may need. Key workers will be able to signpost parents and carers to relevant advice and support when requested.
Parents are invited, via letter, dojo or on the schools website, to attend workshops. Each workshop has a different focus. These are well attended. School also send out regular leaflets sharing courses and information re - after school clubs, and weekend events for children with disabilities.
The school works closely with children families and social care, complex families and family intervention support staff where there are safeguarding or child protection concerns. Families will be signposted to appropriate service and support including assessments for short breaks.
During the child’s pre admission meeting, home to school transport requirements are discussed with a focus on families bringing their child into school and school supporting this. If no solution can be found home to school transport will be discussed if necessary.
Medical appointments are often held in school time, to support family life and close liaison with other multi agency workers.
